BOTOX® & Dysport

BOTOX® CosmeticBotox treatments Mill Valley

BOTOX® Cosmetic (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a purified protein that is administered in a simple, nonsurgical procedure to temporarily reduce the moderate to severe frown lines – in people ages 18-65.

  • Botox treatments san rafaelMost Popular. BOTOX® Cosmetic has been the most popular of all physician-administered cosmetic procedure for 6 years running.
  • Established. Approximately 9.4 million BOTOX® Cosmetic procedures have been administered in the United States since 2002.
  • Satisfying. 97% of patients surveyed (1048 respondents) were satisfied with the results of their BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments.

How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?

Very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for the frown lines. By blocking the release of the chemical that causes the muscle to contract, BOTOX® Cosmetic enables them to relax, so the skin appears smoother.

One 10-minute treatment—a few tiny injections—and within days there's a noticeable improvement in those persistent lines between the brows. Results can last up to 4 months. There’s no recovery or downtime. Many patients receive BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments during their lunch break!

BOTOX® Treatments for Hyperhydrosis
BOTOX® is also FDA-approved for Hyperhydrosis (severe underarm sweating) that is inadequately managed with topical agents. BOTOX® helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don't receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops.

Dysport

DysportDysport is a simple, FDA-approved, effective, non-surgical treatment that works by relaxing facial muscles on the forehead, thereby reducing and smoothing away frown lines and wrinkles. Recently approved in the U.S., Dysport is supported by over a decade of clinical experience. Dysport was developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1990's to successfully treat a number of neurological and ophthalmic conditions.

Since that time, with an increased understanding of the uses of Dysport, thousands of treatments have been safely and effectively performed for a variety of conditions ranging from frown lines to axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating under the armpits). Dysport is now available in over 70 countries.

What is the main difference between Dysport and BOTOX®?
Independent, side-by-side studies have shown that the main difference between the two products is that results with Dysport appear sooner and may last longer than those with BOTOX®.

How does Dysport work?
Dysport works similar to Botox. It blocks impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles that are related to expression lines. Both Dysport and BOTOX®relax the muscles. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected.

What results can I expect?
If dynamic wrinkles make you look older than you are, Dysport can smooth these out and give you a more youthful and pleasant appearance. However, this procedure cannot improve wrinkles due to aging and sun-damaged skin since they are unrelated to facial muscle contractions.

Patient Testimonial

As a 53 year old woman raised on sunshine, I've been deeply concerned about my aging skin.  For two years, I have experienced various services (Restylane, Juvederm, Botox , laser hair removal) at the Laser Center of Marin and have been extremely pleased with the results.  The facility was spotless, the staff was warm and friendly, and the nurse who attended to me was exceptional.  I would highly recommend the Center and especially Jennifer who was not only skilled but a delight!
