How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?

Very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for the frown lines. By blocking the release of the chemical that causes the muscle to contract, BOTOX® Cosmetic enables them to relax, so the skin appears smoother.

One 10-minute treatment—a few tiny injections—and within days there's a noticeable improvement in those persistent lines between the brows. Results can last up to 4 months. There’s no recovery or downtime. Many patients receive BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments during their lunch break!

BOTOX® Treatments for Hyperhydrosis
BOTOX® is also FDA-approved for Hyperhydrosis (severe underarm sweating) that is inadequately managed with topical agents. BOTOX® helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don't receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops.

What is the main difference between Dysport™ and BOTOX®?
Independent, side-by-side studies have shown that the main difference between the two products is that results with Dysport™ appear sooner and may last longer than those with BOTOX®.

How does Dysport work?
Dysport works similar to Botox. It blocks impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles that are related to expression lines. Both Dysport and BOTOX®relax the muscles. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected.

What results can I expect?
If dynamic wrinkles make you look older than you are, Dysport™ can smooth these out and give you a more youthful and pleasant appearance. However, this procedure cannot improve wrinkles due to aging and sun-damaged skin since they are unrelated to facial muscle contractions.
